Coffee from Kivu, from our own estate
On the volcanic shores of Lake Kivu, near Bukavu in eastern DR Congo, lies our own 230-hectare coffee estate. Here we grow arabica ourselves at 1,700 to 2,000 metres. The volcanic soil, the altitude and the lake give a coffee with full body and a soft, round taste.
The estate
On 230 hectares, our coffee grows at the pace of the region. The okapi, an animal found only in Congo, is the emblem of the estate and of Maison Marthe. Our office in Beni works directly with farms and cooperatives in the region.

From farm to cup
Because we grow the coffee ourselves, we know exactly where every bag comes from. Our own EUDR app follows the coffee from the plot to the roastery.
How to brew it
Kivu has enough body for French press and moka pot, and is also lovely as filter. Use 60–70 g per litre in the French press. More in the brewing guide.
